One of the main questions I receive is “What do you do” and the other ” How does it work”? This article will give a step by step process of deep steam carpet cleaning.
Its very simple. First I arrive at the site and give the estimate for the required work, etc. The work is best performed with a truck mount unit. This truck mount unit using pressure and a heater, heats up water to a specific temperature that will be used to spray on carpets to break up soil. Here is the science involved. Depending on which cleaning agent used, but every 18 degrees of temperature above 120 the cleaning agents potency amplifies by a certain percent, generally 10%, 100%, 1000%. My machine goes to 250 degrees. Well that is some clean carpet power. Setting pressure at 300 psi will shoot this hot steam deep into the carpets. The truck mount unit also has a vacuum blower that sucks that water back to the machine as it is applied to the carpet thus removing the dirty soil. Sometimes more than one pass is required to remove soil and using this heat usually removes most stains as well.
In some cases a truck mount is not a common practice tool, such as in high rise condos, in which a portable machine is used. Portables work in the same manner. We will discuss portables in another article.
Another method used during cleaning is applying a pre-spay. With this I apply a spray to break up soil on the carpets. When I begin passes with the carpet wand the first layer of soil is broken up, allowing the cleaning agents to penetrate deep into the carpets as well as cleaning on top. This way you get the most thorough cleaning not just a topical cleaning.
Good cleaning!
