So your baby is on the way and it won’t be long now perhaps two or three months. You just have the time to get decorated organized and get your baby’s room prepared.
Its time for some decisions to be made, there is lots of serious planning needed. There is also some serious action needed from that husband of yours in order to get your baby room dcor completed in time for the new arrival.
Now dont leave it too long to get started as it is quite possible you might be surprised and have an earlier arrival than you originally thought. So is you baby room dcor going to have a theme? What do you think you baby would like?
Before you begin to choose a theme just bear a couple of things in mind. You will want to decorate and prepare the room in such a way as to stimulate your baby while at the same time considering that it needs to look good from your perspective. Youll need to agree between yourselves as well (sometimes that one can be difficult).
As neither my wife nor I had any particular skills in design or art we decided that we would invite a friend around for dinner. Now this friend of ours just happened to be a professional designer whose job it is to lay out all kinds of domestic as well as commercial designs. This lady helped us to design the interior of our house so you are going to benefit from some of the ideas she had for us about our house
and baby room dcor.
Just to quickly cover our overall house theme; we agreed with the advice given that we should have a neutral theme running throughout the house (from room to room). So that for the carpets and the walls we chose naturals colors and materials in pastel shades.
Strong colors were picked up with cushions a colorful rug and drapes and pictures. This way the whole house was integrated. There were no major changes from room to room. Each room had its interest and centre points while at the same avoiding stark contrasts that tend to unsettle. So the whole effect while maintaining interest was quite relaxing.
When we discussed our baby room dcor there was a decision to make. Do we keep with the same theme throughout the house; naturals and soft pastels or do we break with the theme and introduce some strong colors on the walls or perhaps the carpets?
The factors to consider were visual stimulation for our baby as against the unsettling nature of strong color.
In the end we went for the compromise that was to pick a color scheme that we would be happy to live with and the baby probably wouldnt give a hoot about. Introduce plenty of color through objects like drapes, lots of toys, pictures and of course the centre piece would be the crib.
You cant really go wrong with planning your baby room dcor in this way as you get the best of both worlds. You are happy and of course your little precious will be happy too.
